Foodwize is designed with your privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:
- Camera: Used only to scan barcodes and ingredient labels. Photos are processed instantly and never stored or uploaded.
- Scan History: Your scan results are stored locally on YOUR device only. We do not have access to them.
- No account required: We do not collect your name, email, or any personal information.
- No location data: We never access your location.
- No tracking: We do not use any advertising trackers or analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To identify food additives from barcodes or ingredient text
- To show you risk ratings and health effect information
- To save your scan history on your device for your own reference
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No personal identification (name, email, phone number)
- No location data
- No photos stored — processed in memory and immediately discarded
- No advertising identifiers
- No third party tracking
4. Third Party Services
- Open Food Facts: When you scan a barcode we query openfoodfacts.org to retrieve product information. This is a public open source database. No personal data is shared.
- Google Play: If you download the app through Google Play, Google's own privacy policy applies to that transaction.
5. Children's Privacy
Foodwize does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app provides educational health information suitable for all ages.
6. Data Security
All scan history is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal data.
7. Your Rights
- Delete your scan history at any time from within the app
- Uninstall the app to remove all local data
- Contact us to ask any privacy questions
